Reading defender Ibrahima Sonko has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Madejski Stadium until June 2010.
The 25-year-old's previous deal was due to expire at the end of next season but he has extended his contract after adapting well to life in the Premiership.
Chairman John Madejski told the club's official website: "Ibrahima is a vital player for us and I'm delighted that he's agreed to stay here until 2010.
"He's an exceptionally good defender and an equally important presence off the pitch, and he will play a central role in our continued development in the next few years."
Sonko moved to the Royals from Brentford in the summer of 2004 and has gone on to make 110 appearances for the club.
