Sodje faces month out

Reading boss Steve Coppell anticipates that Sam Sodje will be sidelined for a month after the defender was forced to have surgery on his injured knee.

The 27-year-old has featured just once for the Royals since joining from Brentford in the summer and it is hoped the operation will cure the niggling injury.

"He had a cartilage operation at the end of last season which he's still had trouble with, but he had an exploratory op this week," Coppell told the club's official website.

"We'd like to think that we've now got to the core of the problem and we expect to see him back in around a month."

Sodje cost Reading £350,000 in the summer after he enjoyed two successful seasons at Griffin Park after making the jump from non-league Margate.
