Sidwell aims to impress
13 Feb 2007 - 07:53:52
Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell has vowed to give his all to the club until then end of the season, despite being out of contract in the summer.
The 24-year-old is coveted by a number of other top-flight clubs and has decided to weigh up his options at the end of the Royals' first season in the Premiership.
However, as his two goals against Aston Villa showed, Sidwell is still fully committed to the Reading cause.
He told the club's official website: "I'm just sitting tight, seeing what's out there. I'm not hurting anyone, I'm just doing what's best for me.
"It doesn't mean I'm leaving or that I'm staying, I'm seeing what's out there. I'm lucky to have a manager who will play me and who believes in me.
"It's good for me when I play well but it's also good for the team. That's the way the club's looked it at, they're keeping me until the end of the season.
"I've got to play well to attract clubs and if I'm doing that then the team will be playing well too. It's the best of both worlds.
"I've always said, whenever I'm in a Reading shirt I'll give 110 per cent."
