Scott optimistic about Bennett

Irish defender Bennett made over 50 appearances for the Bees on loan from Reading in 2008/09 but is now without a club since being released by the Royals at the end of the season. Yet Scott told Brentford's website he is close to bringing Bennett to Griffin Park on a permanent deal. He said: "I reaffirmed the club's commitment to building an exciting squad capable of competing in League One during the coming season. "I have no doubt that we left Alan with no question over our ambitions for the future of Brentford Football Club. We left the meeting in an extremely positive mood and we have agreed to sit back down with Alan on his return from Ireland this week. "Alan seems keen to bring the matter of his future to a speedy conclusion though we understand that he has an obligation to himself and his family to investigate all his options at this time."
