Scan for Hahnemann
03 Apr 2007 - 10:51:08
Reading goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann will have a scan on the hip injury that forced him to be substituted in the 1-0 defeat at Tottenham.
The American shot-stopper initially picked up the problem in training and had to be replaced at half-time on Sunday after the injury deteriorated.
Physio Jon Fearn told the Royals' official website: "He's got a relatively minor muscle problem, it's in the opposite hip to where he's had problems before.
"He did this in training so it's a new injury.
"He's got a scan today (Tuesday). It's not a major injury and we'll see how he progresses."
Manager Steve Coppell had said after the narrow defeat at White Hart Lane: "Marcus did something to his hip, which was affecting his kicking and his jumping.
"We were going to try him for the first couple of minutes of the second half just to see what the reaction was going to be, but I knew in Federici we had an able deputy and, rather than risk further damage to Marcus, Fedders came in.
"One save in the top left-hand corner was fabulous - it was like that advert on the telly when the goalkeeper has the glue on his gloves! He did very well."
