Royals swoop for Bertrand

Reading have snapped up Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand on a season-long loan. The 19-year-old is well known to new Royals boss Brendan Rodgers from his time at Stamford Bridge. Bertrand has yet to feature for the Blues' first team, but has gained valuable experience from loan spells with Bournemouth, Oldham Athletic and Norwich City. Rodgers told his club's official website: "He's a big talent. He's a boy who has obviously been groomed to fill in for Ashley Cole in the future. "If supporters need to know what he's like, he's very much the Ashley Cole type. "Great going forward, very good on the ball, quick and aggressive in defence, the modern day full-back, especially in an offensive team."
