Royals release unwanted six

18 May 2008 - 13:59:48

Reading have confirmed that six out-of-contract players will be released following their relegation from the Premier League.

The Royals, who lost their top-flight status on a dramatic final day of the season, will show two established first-team players in John Oster and Ulises De La Cruz the exit door.

Meanwhile, John Halls, Graham Stack, Adam Bygrave and Aaron Brown have all also been told they will not be offered fresh terms

However, Glen Little, Michael Duberry, Ben Hamer and Scott Davies are all out of contract this summer but have been offered new deals to remain at the Madejski Stadium.

"I would like to place on record my thanks to all of the players who will be moving on," director of football Nick Hammond told the club's official website.

"They have all shown great professionalism, and we wish them all the very best for the future."

Midfielder Oster, 29, made 18 appearances for Steve Coppell's side during the recently-completed season, while full-back De La Cruz made the first team on just ten occasions.
