Leeds United have rejected a seven-figure bid for central defender Matthew Kilgallon from Reading.
The 22-year-old is renowned as one of the most promising players outside the Premiership and Whites chairman Ken Bates has no intention of allowing him to leave Elland Road.
"We actually turned down an offer for more than £1million from Reading so he's going nowhere," Bates told Yorkshire Radio.
"If he continues to develop as he is, I can see him as a natural successor to John Terry."
Meanwhile, Royals boss Steve Coppell has handed a trial to Ecuador full-back Ulises de la Cruz, who was released by Aston Villa at the end of last season.
