New Reading boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he has little chance of starting the season with Kevin Doyle still at the club.
Wolves, Bolton Wanderers, Fulham and Sunderland are all believed to be willing to offer £6.5million for the Republic of Ireland international striker.
Rodgers said: "I don't think there will be wholesale changes. One or two will go and I'd like to replace anyone who leaves.
"No matter what style of football you play, you need penetration in the last 25 metres.
"If you lose someone like Kevin Doyle then you lose a lot of penetration and he needs to be replaced."
If Doyle does leave the Madejski Stadium, the Royals are believed to be interested in snapping up Watford's Tommy Smith as a replacement.
