Reading are keen to tie up a permanent deal for on-loan defender Andre Bikey, who has impressed with the Royals this season.
The 22-year-old Cameroon international has scored once in 20 appearances since his arrival from Lokomotiv Moscow and has done enough to earn a long-term stay in the Premiership.
Director of football, Nicky Hammond, told the Reading Evening Post: "We are looking at the option of getting Andre permanently.
"We're trying to move discussions forward with Lokomotiv and complete a deal by the end of this week. I don't see any problems.
"There is definitely potential there. Like the manager says, at times he looks magnificent and at the same time he still looks like he's got his L-plates on.
"The important thing is he is learning and improving and hopefully we can get him to become an even better player."
