Rodgers saw his side succumb to a friendly defeat to Kettering at the weekend but then gave most of his first team a run out in Graeme Murty's testimonial on Monday night. Murty scored a hat-trick of penalties on his farewell appearance at the Madjeski Stadium in an entertaining game which also saw Noel Hunt return as a second-half substitute after four months out with an ankle injury. Rodgers said: "What will get better is our penetration. "That normally comes after more than two weeks of training, that final product in the last third. "We have showed a few moments but because it's so early in pre-season players don't quite have that yard to get away, but it will come."
