Rodgers linked with Royals

Watford manager Brendan Rodgers has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Steve Coppell as Reading manager.

Rodgers, who only arrived at Watford in November, is believed to have been approached by the Royals to take the reins following Coppell's resignation last month.

The former Chelsea reserve team boss spent nine years at Reading, where he helped set-up the club's academy before moving on to the Premier League side in 2004.

Last season he inherited a Watford team languishing in the bottom half of the Championship table and guided them to a 13th placed finish.

Reports claim Rodgers could be unveiled in the Madejski Stadium hot-seat before the weekend.
