Rodgers patient over new skipper

Rodgers is weighing up several candidates after Graeme Murty was released on a free transfer at the end of last season. Last season's vice-captain Ingimarsson is a strong contender, but midfielders James Harper and Brynjar Gunnarsson have also captained the team in the past. Rodgers told the club's official website: "My thought is that I've come into here with a clean sheet of paper. "There have been captains here and I've read comments that people have made when they've been captain, but for me it's an honour to be a captain of a club with this status and I want to give my players the chance to show me that they want to be a captain. "What I'm saying to them is that the team and the club no longer has a captain and I'm looking for a captain and a vice captain to take my idea forward and take the club's idea forward. There are very few people that can take that honour and fill those shoes."
