Republic of Ireland born Steve Hunt began his career at Crystal Palace under the management of current Reading boss Steve Coppell. He then moved to Brentford- again under Steve Coppell. While he was at Brentford he he made 136 League appearances and scored 25 goals before leaving the club at the end of the 2004/2005 season.
