Oster inks new Royals deal
31 Jan 2007 - 13:08:56
Reading winger John Oster has penned a new deal that will keep him at the Madejski Stadium until the end of next season.
The former Everton star has made 14 Premiership starts for the Royals since his free transfer switch from Burnley in August 2005 and has come off the substitute's bench on 32 occasions.
The 28-year-old told Reading's official website: "It's great to sign for another year.
"I feel I've been playing well and I'm looking forward to continuing to challenge for a place.
"The team is doing really well at the moment and this is a good club to be at, but we'll all take the mentality of the manager and keep our feet firmly on the ground."
Oster started his career at Grimsby Town and made 24 league appearances for the Mariners before moving to Everton in a £1.5million deal almost a decade ago.
However, he made only 40 Premiership appearances for the Toffees before being bought by Sunderland for £1million.
The Wales international struggled on Wearside and, after making only 68 league appearances in almost six years, was allowed to join Burnley on a free transfer two years ago.
