Reading defender Graeme Murty is hoping an injection in his injured knee will allow him to feature against Birmingham City on Saturday.
The Royals captain has missed the last three games with a knee problem, but is desperate to play in the crunch relegation showdown with the Blues at the Madejski Stadium.
"I hurt it twice in the Villa game (on February 24) but we had no subs left on the day so it was a case of getting on with it," he told the club's official website.
"I had the injection on Monday so I need to see how it reacts.
"Hopefully it will have calmed down and I'll start progressing because things had been a little slow.
"I saw a specialist and he put a steroid and anaesthetic injection in it, so hopefully a bit of pain will pay off.
"Hopefully I can start progressing on Thursday, start lifting my training up and getting some full loads through the knee which I haven't been able to do for three weeks now."
