McDermott wants more

Reading boss Brian McDermott admitted his side were not at their best in the 2-1 defeat by Scunthorpe - but insisted they had not been complacent. McDermott also felt Scunthorpe's opening goal was an "injustice" after Garry Thompson appeared to have been flagged offside as he gave the Iron an early lead. Gylfi Sigurdsson drew the Royals level with a fine hit but giant centre-half Rob Jones was able to head in a second-half winner for the visitors. McDermott said: "We didn't have our usual edge. Something was missing but credit Scunthorpe they did a good job on us. "We probably deserved something from the game and with Scunthorpe's opener nine out of 10 referees would have given offside once the linesman put his flag up. They got a real lift from it and it put us on the back foot. I think the players felt there was an injustice. "There was no complacency on our part. In this league anybody can beat anybody else."
