McDermott enthused by Royals spirit

Reading manager Brian McDermott hailed his side's desire after watching them secure a late 1-0 win over Ipswich. With both sides reduced to 10 men after Reading's Matt Mills and Ipswich's Luke Hyam saw red for two bookings apiece, the game looked to be destined for a goalless draw. But Simon Church popped up with two minutes remaining to seal the win and help the Royals move above Ipswich in the table and into the play-off spots. "That win was a testament to the desire and will of the players. We keep going until the end and when you do that anything can happen," McDermott said. "You can win games like that but you can also lose. "At 0-0 we were not settling, but trying to win the game. We kept a good shape and it was a decent game between two decent sides."
