New Reading signing Marek Matejovsky is ready to step straight into the first team should manager Steve Coppell decide to hand him an immediate debut.
The 26-year-old midfielder joined the Royals from Mlada Boleslav on Tuesday for a fee believed to be around the £1million mark and could feature at Aston Villa on Saturday.
Asked whether he hoped to play at the weekend, he told the club's official website: "That's a decision for the manager, not me.
"I would like to try as hard as possible to show I am ready to play - and that I am able to play as well.
"If everything goes well, we can move forward in the table and it will be okay. I hope to help with that."
Meanwhile, the Czech Republic international admitted the lure of the Premier League and the chance to work with Coppell prompted him to make the move.
"I know they had success in the Premier League last year and they have a brilliant manager," he continued.
"My wish is to be a useful member of both the national team and the Reading team as well.
"So I must work a lot, there is a lot of work in front of me, but I want to do it."
