But when asked if there had been a disagreement with Rodgers, Madejski told Sky Sports News: "Absolutely not. It was simply results.
"We left on amicable terms and I just want to place on record that Brendan Rodgers is one of the finest people I know and I wish him every success in the future.
"There's no animosity at all, but football is all about results and sadly we didn't get them.
"All I can tell you is I'm a very sad chairman because it's one of the hardest things I've had to do as he's such a straight-forward nice guy."
