Lita decision delights Coppell

Reading manager Steve Coppell is happy that Leroy Lita wants to stay at Reading and fight for his place in the team.

Earlier this week Lita rejected the chance to move to Sheffield United in a permanent deal after a bid was accepted for the striker.

However, Coppell has been impressed with the 24-year-old since his return from a loan spell with Norwich City, scoring in a 4-0 win over Watford for the Royals.

Coppell told the club's official website: "He has set the marker with the way he's been training, it's been terrific.

"We had a bid and I'm more than happy for Leroy to stay and compete for a place.

"He's under contract to the summer and I can't think any further than that.

"What happens at the end of his contract depends on a lot of things. Like a lot of clubs we've got a fair few players out of contract, it's not just Leroy."
