    Kitson injury woe continues

    07 Dec 2006 - 15:57:12

Dave Kitson's injury jinx has struck again after the Reading striker had his appendix removed in an emergency procedure on Wednesday.

Kitson, who underwent an emergency appendectomy, has been sidelined with hamstring and knee injuries since the opening day of the Premiership season.

Last season's 22-goal marksman was due to resume training next week but now faces a further two months on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Reading are sweating on the fitness of Graeme Murty and Steve Hunt ahead of Saturday's trip to Watford.

Both players were forced off during the Royals' 3-2 defeat at Newcastle United on Wednesday night and face a race against time to be fit.

"Murts came off near the end with a badly bruised toe and we'll take another look at him on Friday," admitted physio Jon Fearn.

"Hunty was substituted as a precaution with a minor hamstring injury, and again we'll assess him on Friday morning. It's not serious so we're hopeful he'll be available for Saturday."
