Kitson: I didn't do it for Stoke

The striker has returned to the Madejski Stadium on loan until the end of the season after struggling to make an impact with Stoke.[LNB]He failed to score in 18 appearances for the Potters and had not featured in a first-team game for almost two months before rejoining the Royals earlier this week.[LNB]Kitson was Stoke's record £5.5million signing, and he felt the move was right at the time as he fancied a new challenge. [LNB]However, he has now admitted he did not perform as he hoped for the Potters and was wrong to quit the Berkshire club.[LNB]"I compromised everything I had at this football club, which was a lot," said Kitson. [LNB]"Now, looking back, and with that in mind, you have to put your hands up and say I made a mistake, nobody else.[LNB]"I made the decision, nobody forced me to go to Stoke.[LNB]"I went there thinking I could start a new challenge and do well for another less fashionable club and keep it in the Premier League. I was wrong and I put my hands up.[LNB]"You should never compromise your family's happiness and that is what I did. That is unforgivable."[LNB]Kitson will make a permanent move back to Reading should he help them to promotion, with Stoke set to recoup virtually all of the money they paid for him. They have already received a six-figure loan fee and the Royals are likely to match the fee they paid for Kitson up front - believed to be significantly less than the £5.5million quoted.[LNB][LNB]
