Key season for Church - Rodgers

Rodgers is keen to recruit a new striker to replace Doyle - who joined Wolves for £6.5million earlier this summer - but with time running out has backed the 20-year-old to make the grade. He told the Reading Post: "I look at the people who are here and Simon Church can get goals. "I think he's as close to a Kevin Doyle as we've got. This will be a really good season for him, he's become a full international and his movement on the pitch is like a top striker. "He's intelligent and has a purpose to his game. He moves around defenders like a top player with cleverness and intelligence "He's got enough speed so he's powerful in his running and he will develop."
