Just a matter of time for Sousa

The Swans battled away for their first point of the season but they should have claimed all three against a very poor Royals outfit in Tuesday's Championship clash at the Liberty Stadium. They even missed from the spot when Mark Gower's 25th-minute penalty was pushed away by Reading keeper Adam Federici. Sousa was pleased with the performance and confident his side will soon gain a victory. He said: "There was only one team playing the football and even with all our problems we did everything to win the match. "We made chances especially in the second half and if we keep believing in ourselves, we will soon win matches. "Our defence soon settled down and we never gave them any chances but we need to keep the same resolve for our next matches and I know all the players are confident. "We have been speaking to a number of players but it is it not easy to bring anyone in who are earning way above the club's wage scale. "We have the money to pay a transfer fee but the wages wanted is making it difficult." Stephen Dobbie was lively up front for the Swans and he fashioned an opening in the 15th minute only to be pulled back as the goal opened up in front of him. The penalty was awarded by the referee's assistant who adjudged Kalifa Cisse had handled in the area. Gower, still waiting for his first goal for the Swans, struck the kick to Federici's right, but the keeper swooped to push behind for a corner. Much of the play centred around midfield with only sporadic attacks coming from Swansea. Dorus de Vries did not have a save to make in the home goal. The second half was almost one way traffic, but the Swans could not get the goal they deserved despite going close through Dobbie and Mason Dyer. "It was a determined and resilient performance but we were on the back foot for most of the second half," said Reading boss Brendan Rodgers. "It was a clean sheet which is our second from three games but we have a problem up front as we still haven't scored a goal. "Our first few matches have been good learning curves for our young players and we will improve but Swansea are an excellent side playing good football and I must pay tribute to them. "On our part we showed great determination but we do need something more up front."
