Reading midfielder Brynjar Gunnarsson has signed a one-year extension to his current contract, meaning he is tied to the Royals until the summer of 2009.
The 31-year-old Iceland international joined Reading in the summer of 2005 from Watford and proved to be a valuable member of Steve Coppell's squad as they secured promotion to the top-flight.
Gunnarsson told the club's official website: "I'm really happy the club have offered me this contract extension.
"It's been fantastic to be part of the success at Reading and I'm looking forward to the rest of another big season here."
Director of football Nick Hammond added: "Brynjar has been a consistent and versatile performer for our squad and a big part of our success over the last few years.
"His performances have earned him this contract extension."
Gunnarsson has scored eight goals in 66 appearances for the Royals.
