Iceman nears Royals comeback

The Iceland defender has been out for nine months with a serious injury but made a comeback in a 2-0 win over Portsmouth reserves on Friday and hopes to be in Brendan Rodgers' plans within seven days. He told the Reading Chronicle: "I've been out of the game a long time so it was a great feeling to be involved in the Portsmouth game. "I felt good after it, there was no problem with my knee and hopefully I will be okay to play at Exeter on Tuesday. "Ideally, I will then look to build it up and hopefully get in one more full game for the reserves. But I should be competing for a place in the first time this time next week."
