Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt has given a strong hint that he would like to join Sunderland, despite the Royals having turned down a £2.5million bid from their Premier League rivals.
The 26-year-old Irishman seems keen to link up with the Black Cats, despite his current employers not wanting to sanction a move.
Hunt told the Daily Mirror: "I told the club what I thought about Sunderland's bid and that will remain private.
"The club knows my situation and how I feel and we'll see what materialises.
"It's entirely up to Reading. Sunderland is a big club and Roy Keane's doing a great job there.
"But I'm here, Reading know my situation and I'll give my best for them, that's all I can do."
Hunt joined Reading in the summer of 2005 from Brentford and has gone on to score 13 goals in 107 appearances in all competitions for the Royals.
