Hamer handed new Royals deal

Reading goalkeeper Ben Hamer has signed a new two-year contract in the same week that Marcus Hahnemann left the Royals for Wolves.

The 21-year-old will now stay at the Madejski Stadium until the end of the 2010-11 campaign.

Director of football Nick Hammond told the club's official website: "We're delighted that Ben's committing himself to us with this new contract.

"Ben has a lot of Football League experience under his belt for such a young goalkeeper.

"After his loans he now comes back to us to be very much part of our plans for next season and to contest for the jersey."
