Gunn over the Mooney with striker
Mooney is at Carrow Road on a one-month loan deal from Reading, which is due to run out after the game against Sheffield Wednesday on April 4 but Gunn is already working on extending that stay.[LNB]"We have been very impressed with David since he came here", said the Norwich manager.[LNB]"I believe that he is regarded as the best natural finisher at the club at Reading and you can see why. That's what he's all about - goals - and he has already scored two for us and has formed a very good partnership with Alan Gow.[LNB]"I have already contacted Reading about the possibility of extending the loan and it's looking positive. "We'll have another talk towards the end of the current spell and hopefully we will be able to keep him here until the end of the season. I'm confident that will happen."[LNB]Mooney scored the opening goal in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over Cardiff and was at it again against the Pilgrims to make it two goals in the space of five days.[LNB]The game's decisive moment came early in the second period when skipper Gary Doherty nodded a corner back into the path of the young Irishman who connected powerfully with his head to give Norwich a thoroughly deserved lead.[LNB]The goal was a reward for a dominant Norwich display, with the visitors limited to a handful of half chances as their hosts dominated the game for long spells.[LNB]Numerous opportunities came and went but Gunn wasn't complaining afterwards as his side moved out of the bottom three.[LNB]"It's another win and another clean sheet", said Gunn. "That's three wins and three clean sheets in four matches now which is very pleasing.[LNB]"We had a blip (the 1-0 defeat at Blackpool last Saturday) but we have bounced back really well from that.[LNB]"There is a lot of confidence right through the side now and everyone seems to be playing with more belief.[LNB]"We've got the result we wanted and a few of their other results have gone for us as well so it was a very happy dressing room after the game.[LNB]"It's certainly a big boost for me to be outside the bottom three, as I'm sure it is for the players as well but there is still a massive job to be done, starting at Birmingham next week.[LNB]"The main thing is that we have given ourselves a good chance now."[LNB]Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock is confident his side can avoid the drop even though their performance left him extremely disappointed.[LNB]"There was nervousness about us from the start with no composure to our play. For some reason we seem to be a lot better against the sides near the top of the table than we are against the sides in and around us.[LNB]"Norwich played well today and were positive in their approach while right from the start we looked as though we were just trying to come away with a point.[LNB]"It's very disappointing and there's no doubt that the last two results (Plymouth also lost at Swansea) have put us back into the rat race with the other teams down there.[LNB]"All we can do now is lick our wounds and prepare ourselves for the next one. We've got seven games left and four of them are at home, starting with Burnley on Saturday. If we can win three of those seven games that will take us up to 52 points and I think that will be pretty safe.[LNB]"We have got to think we can turn this around and I think we can stay up when you look at the performances and the runs we have put together over the course of the season."[LNB][LNB]
