Federici stunned with goal

Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici admitted he was stunned after scoring a last-gasp equaliser in the 1-1 Boxing Day draw with Cardiff City.

Federici struck the equaliser with the last kick of the game after Michael Chopra had put Cardiff in front with a minute to go.

The Australian keeper went up for a corner which was cleared off the line by Cardiff defender Gabor Gyepes, only for the keeper to thunder the ball into the net.

"I love playing outfield and score plenty of goals in training, but I never imagined that something like this would happen," he told the club's official website.

"I had a goal celebration planned in case I ever scored - just a little Aussie thing - but the boys mobbed me so I couldn't even do it. I'll have to save it for another day!

"It was the last kick of the game so we had nothing to lose and an extra body in the box always makes it hard to defend because the opposition don't know who's marking who.

"We're delighted with the point because it would have been heartbreaking to lose after the effort we put in."
