Suspended midfielder Emerse Fae's Reading future is in the balance after he accused the club of stupidity over his ban.
Fae and team-mate Ibrahima Sonko were told by boss Steve Coppell they would not feature again this season for the relegation-plagued Royals after they refused to take part in a reserve team game.
Both players were handed suspensions and fined the maximum two weeks' wages.
But Ivory Coast international Fae, who only arrived at the Madejski Stadium from Nantes last summer, has put his future in doubt after hitting out at his suspension.
"It's not clever to suspend your own players - that's stupid," he told The Sun.
"The sanction is too heavy. Axing two players from your own struggling team is not coherent at all.
"I refused to play for the reserves. They said okay then, let's meet on Thursday and in the meantime I get a letter saying I'm axed.
"They're not courageous enough to tell me things man-to-man."
