Duo free to leave the Royals

Reading manager Brian McDermott has told Scott Davies and David Mooney that they can leave the Madejski Stadium-based outfit.

The duo have been left in England while the first-team's pre-season preparations continue in Slovakia and Croatia.

McDermott has informed the pair that they don't figure in his long-term plans ahead of the new Championship campaign that begins on August 7.

Speaking to the Crowthorne and Sandhurst Times, McDermott said: "I've had conversations with Scotty Davies and David Mooney.

"Sometimes when players like Scotty have been here a long time, they probably need to find where their career is going to be. David Mooney is the same."
