Duo extend Royals stay
06 Jan 2007 - 08:49:16
Reading pair Kevin Doyle and Stephen Hunt have signed contract extensions running until 2010 and 2009 respectively.
Striker Doyle, 23, joined the Royals in the summer of 2005 from Cork City and has proved to be a bargain buy, having netted ten goals in the Premiership already this season.
Twenty-five-year-old midfielder Hunt joined Reading at the same time as Doyle and has become a key squad member since his arrival from Brentford.
Director of football Nick Hammond told the club's official website: "Kevin's contract extension is very significant and of major importance to our plans moving forward.
"He's quickly become an outstanding Premiership striker and the great thing about Kevin is that despite all his success and his meteoric rise in the past 18 months, he's still the same level-headed young man that joined us from Cork.
"Stephen has been terrific for us since joining and I'm delighted that he's signed for two more years.
"He has great energy levels, bags of enthusiasm and is a real breath of fresh air around the training ground every day."
