Duberry boost for Royals

Reading defender Michael Duberry is closing in on a first-team return after making his comeback from injury for the club's reserves.

Duberry, 33, has made just one appearance for the Royals in the Carling Cup this season before picking up a calf injury.

But the veteran defender was part of the second-string side that cantered to a 6-0 victory over Northampton Town on Wednesday, alongside Czech Republic midfielder Marek Matejovsky.

"It was great to see 'Doobs' back and Marek looked comfortable," coach Nigel Gibbs told the club's official website.

"He showed some flashes of brilliance with his passing."

Meanwhile, Reading are reportedly at the head of the queue of clubs hoping to sign teenage midfielder Michael Antonio from non-league Tooting & Mitcham.
