Doyle pledges Royals future
07 Nov 2008 - 07:47:13
Reading have ended speculation surrounding the future of Kevin Doyle after extending the striker's contract until 2011.
Doyle, 25, was linked with a move to several Premier League sides following the Royals' relegation to the Championship last summer.
The £5million-rated Republic of Ireland international has found the net 11 times this season and is the current joint top-scorer in the Championship.
"I'm delighted to have signed this new deal," Doyle told the club's official website.
"I've had ongoing discussions with (director of football) Nick Hammond and, over the last couple of weeks, we've come to an agreement that is right for both me and the club.
"I've had great support from the chairman and everyone at the club since I arrived from Ireland three-and-a-half years ago and I take enormous pride in playing for Reading.
"This sense of achievement, as with all the players and staff, was dented on relegation and I hope that signing this new deal will take away speculation surrounding my own future and allow me to focus totally on achieving my own and the club's ambition of returning to the Premier League at the end of the season."
