Doyle ends away-day drought

Reading striker Kevin Doyle is happy to have broken his goal drought away from the Madejski Stadium this season with a double in the 4-1 victory at Bristol City.

Doyle had previously netted nine goals on home soil this term, but had found life much tougher on the road, before helping engineer a convincing victory at Ashton Gate.

He told the Evening Post: "I don't mind where I score, but if I hadn't scored away from home the gaffer would probably have mentioned that fact to me sooner rather than later.

"But I did mention that I was taken off with 20 minutes or so to go. I think he just didn't want me getting the three.

"It would have been nice to try to get a hat-trick, but it gave Shane Long some more time on the pitch.

"Not scoring away would have played on my mind more had we been winning, but we hadn't been playing fabulously away from home."
