Coppell slams Bikey conduct

Reading manager Steve Coppell offered no defence of defender Andre Bikey, who was sent off late on in the 1-0 play-off semi-final first leg defeat at Burnley.

Bikey was red-carded for a stamp on Robbie Blake, before flinging his shirt away in fury at the decision of referee Martin Atkinson.

Coppell commented: "No defence. There is no place for that in football.

"He got 100 per cent what he deserves - I have no reservations about that.

"His reaction was just a hugely emotion one, given the five minutes he'd had.

"He was fouled first remember which frustrated him, but there is no excuse for his behaviour. We just don't accept that at our club. He understands that."

Meanwhile, striker Kevin Doyle is set to miss the second leg at the Madejski Stadium with an Achilles injury picked up in the narrow defeat on Saturday evening.
