Coppell plans changes

Reading manager Steve Coppell is unlikely to keep faith with the fringe players that secured a 3-2 FA Cup victory over Burnley when the Royals travel to either Birmingham or Newcastle in the fourth round.

Coppell made wholesale changes to the starting line-up for the visit of the Championship side with only Ivar Ingimarsson and Leroy Lita expected to retain their places for Saturday's trip to Everton in the Premiership.

But Coppell looks set to name a more experienced side next time out after revealing there will be less drains on his resources when the fourth round of the FA Cup comes around.

"In the next round it's a Saturday game, so it is not as if we are squeezing in an extra fixture that we can't cope with," he said.

"I haven't thought about it too much, but I will probably have a little more strength in there.

"It was very pleasing to get the victory, but if we analyse some of the defending then we will spend a bit of time in the classroom."
