Coppell anticipates no changes

Reading manager Steve Coppell does not expect any players to leave the club before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Since the Royals' relegation from the Premier League was confirmed in May, Coppell has only lost one first-team regular - Dave Kitson to Stoke City.

Although the likes of James Harper, Stephen Hunt and Nicky Shorey continue to be linked with other clubs, Coppell insists: "Nothing's happening.

"I suppose, as I've said all summer, we are vulnerable.

"There could be aspects of certain players who were the target of Premier League clubs, so we could be exposed with less than a week to go before the season starts. But I'm not anticipating any action.

"I know the transfer window is open until the end of August but, as far as we're concerned, if business is done now, although it affects us, at least we've got time to plan.

"I'll be delighted if this squad of players stays here and starts the campaign."
