Cisse pens Royals extension

Reading midfielder Kalifa Cisse has signed a new extended contract to keep him at the Madejski Stadium until the summer of 2011.

The 24-year-old Mali international joined the Royals in the summer of 2007 from Portuguese side Boavista and has gone on to score six times in 50 appearances for the Berkshire club.

Director of football, Nick Hammond, told the club's official website: "He made a big transition when moving here from Portugal in 2007, but Kalifa is now firmly settled here and he thoroughly deserves his new deal.

"Off the pitch he is a fantastic personality to have around and on it he has been exceptional to become an integral member of the team."

Meanwhile, winger Stephen Hunt looks set to leave the Royals, with Wigan Athletic lining up a £5million deal for the Republic of Ireland international.
