    Church delighted with double

    18 Feb 2010 - 14:48:05

Reading striker Simon Church was a happy man after scoring twice in Reading's much-needed 3-1 Championship win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening.

The win propelled them out of the relegation places and boss Brian McDermott will be breathing that little bit easier.

Welshman Church has now scored three times in a week following his brace and goal in Saturday's FA Cup fifth round draw against West Bromwich Albion and he insists he is just happy hitting the back of the net.

Speaking after the game, he said: "Scoring goals is what I love doing and long may it continue. I haven't seen the first goal back yet but so long as it looked good on the cameras!

"Luckily it took a good bounce and it went over the keeper - I just really wanted to score and thankfully it went in. My second was thanks to some great work from Millsy (Matthew Mills).

"He's a good player and has been a rock since he's been involved. He deserved the captaincy tonight and really led from the back."
