Carrico set to make Reading debut against West Brom

New signing Daniel Carrico is being lined up to make his Reading debut in the Barclays Premier League clash with West Brom on Saturday week.

Manager Brian McDermott has indicated that Carrico will miss this weekend's FA Cup third-round tie at Crawley after only completing his £600,000 move from Sporting Lisbon on New Year's Eve.

"Daniel will train tomorrow fully with the squad for the first time and then we'll have a look next week," McDermott said of the 24-year-old, who can play in defence or midfield.

McDermott is hoping to rest some of his first-team players against Crawley with relegation-threatened Reading having played three games in seven days.

"Mikele Leigertwood has got a knock while Danny Guthrie hadn't played too many games and now has played three on the spin, so we'll have to look at everybody," he said.

"Pavel Pogrebnyak's been playing that lone role up front and has worked so hard for the group.

"There's a possibility we might make changes but it's a game we want to win."
