Winger Weiss is right for Gers

Rangers have won the race to sign Vladimir Weiss, with the Manchester City winger joining the Scottish champions on a one-year loan deal..[LNB] Slovakia international Weiss arrived in Glasgow earlier on Thursday to complete the move, having also been linked with Old Firm rivals Celtic, as well as Stuttgart and Sampdoria - and will be presented on Friday.[LNB]Slovakia star Weiss was taken to the club's Murray Park training complex where the deal was finalised with Rangers chief executive Martin Bain.[LNB]The highly-rated 20-year-old is now set to go straight into the squad for Sunday's SPL clash with Hibernian at Easter Road.[LNB]He found himself in demand after impressing at the World Cup in South Africa this summer and his capture will be seen as a major coup for the Light Blues.[LNB]He becomes Walter Smith's second signing of the summer, following the arrival of James Beattie from Stoke last week.[LNB]Weiss revealed the lure of Champions League football convinced him to choose Rangers over Celtic and other suitors.[LNB]Weiss told Rangers TV: "As soon as I got this offer I was really interested.[LNB]"I had a few offers, including from Italy and Germany, and then the offer from Rangers came and to play for a big team like this will be a pleasure for me.[LNB]"I aim to do my best and hopefully we will have a good season.[LNB]"Celtic came in for me first but then Rangers came in and when I looked through all of the offers that I had, I picked Rangers.[LNB]"The fact that Rangers are in the Champions League was obviously a big incentive for me. Every player wants to play in the Champions League so it's a great opportunity for me.[LNB]"I hope we get an interesting group and that we do really well."[LNB]Weiss revealed a taste of Ibrox last year also played a part.[LNB]"Of course I played against Rangers last season when Man City came to Ibrox for a pre-season friendly and I really enjoyed that," he added.[LNB]"It was almost a full house that night and it's a great stadium to play in. The fans are incredible, which is another reason why I chose Rangers.[LNB]"The year before that I played at Murray Park in a reserve game so I knew about the great facilities that Rangers have."
