Steven Whittaker is poised to play on with a broken toe as Rangers take on Inverness in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday.[LNB] The defender withdrew from the Scotland squad for Wednesday's friendly with Denmark at the weekend after breaking a toe before being sent off in the Champions League exit in Malmo last week.[LNB]But the 27-year-old is set to feature in Saturday's SPL match at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.[LNB]Manager Ally McCoist told RangersTV: "Steven Whittaker suffered a problem in the game against Malmo.[LNB]"He went for an X-ray and something has shown up in one of his toes.[LNB]"We don't think it is anything too major and we would hope he would be fit for Saturday's game at Inverness.[LNB]"We are going to sit down and have a chat with the doctor.[LNB]"Although it is very painful it might be a situation where he will be able to play with it. "Obviously the most important thing is that he is right to play.[LNB]"We don't want to do any more damage, so time will tell."[LNB]Croatia striker Nikica Jelavic (knee) and United States midfielder Maurice Edu (calf) also withdrew from international duty this week after suffering knocks in last weekend's friendly with Chelsea.[LNB]McCoist is crossing his fingers Rangers face no further fitness concerns during the midweek internationals.[LNB]He added: "Of course, we have Allan McGregor and Stevie Naismith with the full Scotland side for the friendly with Denmark and Steve Davis and David Healy are with Northern Ireland for their qualifier against the Faroe Islands.[LNB]"We hope they all do well but equally we hope they all come back unscathed on Thursday morning.[LNB]"We also have some of our lads with the under-21s - Grant Adam, Ross Perry, Darren Cole and Kyle Hutton - and that's great experience for them.[LNB]"I have always said it's important for our players to be involved at international level."[LNB]McCoist's attempts to add to his squad have hit stumbling blocks in the transfer market.[LNB]Dutch winger Wesley Verhoek appears set to stay at ADO Den Haag after a move to Nottingham Forest, who had agreed a fee, collapsed because he is not willing to leave Holland.[LNB]Rangers' pursuit of Roland Juhasz also looks doomed to fail.[LNB]An offer for the Anderlecht defender has been rejected by the Belgian club.[LNB]The Hungarian defender's agent, Filipovics Vlada, told media in his home country that a fourth Rangers bid had failed despite the player having an agreement with his club that they would sell him if an appropriate offer came in.[LNB]Rangers, though, are still looking to sign Australia midfielder Matt McKay before the Europa League signing deadline on Thursday, having held talks over a move for the 28-year-old Brisbane Roar captain.[LNB]
