Welcome handed Rangers trial

Walter Smith has confirmed Rangers have taken Honduras international striker Georgie Welcome on trial.[LNB] The 25-year-old, who plays for club side Motagua in his homeland, has been on Rangers' list of targets for some time with Gers assistant manager Ally McCoist watching him in action at the World Cup this summer.[LNB]Rangers are in need of striking reinforcements after losing Kris Boyd and Welcome will be handed the chance to win a move to Ibrox even though he will not be able to play in any of their pre-season games because of work permit problems.[LNB]"Georgie Welcome will be coming to join us next week on trial," Smith told the club's official website.[LNB]"We can't play him in the games because of the work permit situation but we can look at him training.[LNB]"We will see what happens and then take it from there."
