Weiss content with Rangers debut

Vladimir Weiss declared himself satisfied with his first outing for Rangers as the Glasgow outfit defeated Hibernian 3-0 win at Easter Road.[LNB] The Manchester City winger was named on the bench for the visit to Edinburgh after completing his loan move to the Scottish champions on Thursday and looked on from the sidelines as both Lafferty and Hibs' Kevin McBride were dismissed for their part in a melee shortly before half-time.[LNB]However, boss Walter Smith opted to throw the 20-year-old into the action for his first taste of the Scottish Premier League anyway and Weiss impressed almost immediately by setting up Kenny Miller for the second goal of his hat-trick.[LNB]"It was brilliant," he said of his debut. "After Laff got the red card, I wasn't sure if I was going to come on or not. But I came on and the atmosphere and everything about the game was very good. That's my job - to create goals or score goals and I've done one so that's a good start."[LNB]Weiss believes he can strike up a good understanding with Miller, who has netted four goals in the opening two SPL matches.[LNB]He added: "He can score from anywhere and he is always going to run at people and he won the game for us so it was a great effort.[LNB]"He is going to score as many goals as he can and I'm going to try to set him up for them. We've got a good squad and the players are enjoying it so I think we are going to have a good year this year."[LNB]Weiss - who rejected a move to Old Firm rivals Celtic in favour of Rangers - appears to have won over the Ibrox faithful already with his first contribution.[LNB]"I hope so," he said.[LNB]"Since the moment I came on, they were supporting me and you need that in the game, especially on your debut. If the fans are with you, it's a good feeling."[LNB]The home side should have opened the scoring just before Miller claimed his first of the day when Edwin de Graaf found himself with the gaping net at his mercy only for Madjid Bougherra to make an excellent last-gasp intervention.[LNB]Hibs boss John Hughes believes that moment proved to be the turning point in the game.[LNB]"That's a good way to put it," he said.[LNB]"It was fantastic defending and he showed a great desire to defend. Maybe Edwin might have been a little bit more decisive and thrown himself at it. I felt if we had scored first it would have given us a chance but that's the way football is.[LNB]"I'll sit back and analyse it. From what I've seen, we've still got a bit of work in front of us. I'm disappointed we didn't score, I always fancy us for a goal, and I don't think 3-0 was a true reflection on the game.[LNB]"But that's football. You're playing against the Scottish champions and they punished us. I just need to take it on the chin and move on."
