Weir dismisses retirement

David Weir has refused to contemplate his international retirement ahead of Scotland's crunch Euro 2008 qualifier with Italy.
The veteran Rangers defender has won 60 caps for Scotland but will play in arguably his most important match when Alex McLeish's side take on the world champions in a must-win qualifier at Hampden Park on Saturday.
However, the 37-year-old is refusing to look past the full-time whistle against Italy after side-stepping questions about his international future in the build-up to the winner-takes-all clash.
Scotland will qualify for nest summer's European Championship should they defeat Italy in Glasgow.
"Every player has to play every international as if it's his last," he said.
"I don't think you are in the position to dictate but what can happen in the game, by its nature, can dictate the future.
"You can get injured or not get picked again.
"But if you dwell too much on that then you forget about the real thing which is performing and helping your team-mates.
"So regarding personal issues, it's irrelevant if it's your last game or your first game.
"All that matters is that we play as a team and help each other and these things will take care of themselves.
"I've not thought that far ahead, I've always looked short term."
"If you start looking too far ahead or worrying about other games and take your eye off the ball then you are in trouble."
