Weir agrees Gers stay

Veteran defender David Weir has agreed a new one-year contract to play on at Rangers until next summer.

The 36-year-old former Everton centre-half arrived at Ibrox on a six-month contract in January and has impressed Gers boss Walter Smith in his 11 appearances for the club.

Rangers are unbeaten in the SPL since the Scotland international arrived and Weir is looking forward to another 12 months in Glasgow.

"I didn't look at any other options because any option other than Rangers would have been second best," he said.

"When I got the opportunity to stay here for another year I didn't need much persuading."
