Weir: Old Firm clash is special

Rangers captain David Weir is adamant that the Old Firm contest will never lose any appeal as his side prepare to face Celtic in the Scottish Cup.A Georgios Samaras double handed the visitors three Clydesdale Bank Premier League points at Ibrox in the last Scottish Premier League encounter. The Glasgow rivals meet again in two weeks time in the SPL and also face each other in the Co-operative Insurance Cup final on March 20.Speaking to Press Association Sport, Weir said: "I think we could play them every day and there would be an edge to it. That's just the way it is, whether it's the under-19s or the full fixture."It's just a special game and a special relationship between the clubs. I don't think you can dilute that at all at any time."Weir also believes that new signing El-Hadji Diouf can rise above criticism to make an impression at Ibrox, saying: "I've not paid too much attention to (the media attention). I don't see a problem."Footballers are footballers, like any walk of life there are different characters. If you work hard and play well, that's all anybody asks."
